Last September, we started off our all-american road trip in New York City. It was my 5th time in the city, but my boyfriends first, and I really think I was more excited than him to show him the city!
We used Airbnb to stay in Brooklyn, and as I have only ever been in Brooklyn once for about an hour, I was ready to explore it a little more. Brooklyn is a little cheaper to stay in than the main part of New York City, and it’s only a few minutes on the subway!
Because of it being Eric’s first time in NY, most of the trip was spent doing tourist-y things (which I was a little hesitant on, but I ended up LOVING it!) Times Square was first on our list, were we just sat back, ate some
sweets – I mean, candy – and enjoyed people watching, then we wandered around Central Park, before going to the Zoo. (I still cant get my head around that there are Polar Bears right in the middle of New York?! Cool, but a little cruel don’t you think?)
We decided to go up Rockefeller Center, and in my opinion, this has way better views than the Empire State Building. But I would recommend going into the entrance of the Empire state, just to see all the beaut decor. The High Line, an old and unused rail track then as been turned into some beautiful gardens, is a great place for anyone who wants to get out of the hustle and bustle of the city, because it can be a bit too much sometimes – but that’s New York!
I’ll be writing my own travel guide to New York in upcoming posts, so make sure you come back if you are planning on going to New York, I know I wish I could go back right now.
